Now Enrolling School-Based Teams in Professional Development Courses for the 2024-2025 school year

September 2024 – May 2025, 3 Hours Per Month

TEAMS USA – A Professional Development Course

Teaching English and Academics to Multilingual Students Using Strengths-Based Approaches

Purpose: In-service educators complete a year-long professional development in school-based teams to improve the education of English learners at their school.

Teams: School-based teams consist of 4 to 5 educators including teachers and at least one school administrator or ELL Specialist. Teams meet three hours a month and complete planning tasks during the school year. Teams will be formed first from schools within our partner districts: Branson R-IV Schools, Kansas City Public Schools, Monett R-1 School District, Neosho School District, North Kansas city Schools, Springfield R-12 School District. However, we are now accepting teams from any public school district in Missouri.

Compensation: A stipend of up to $1,200 will be awarded to each team member for participation in workshops over the course of the school year. (Stipends are available to five participants per school.)

When: The next cohort will begin in Fall 2024. Teams will meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday each month after school. Specific times will be finalized with the facilitator taking dismissal times into consideration.

Program Evaluation: Teams participate in the evaluation of the TEAMS USA course by completing baseline and outcome assessment of their services for educating multilingual students.
